Hi,

Cactus requires that PETSc is already installed independently of  
Cactus.  It can use only those features of PETSc which are already  
built in -- while PETSc solves a system, it has complete control for a  
short time to achieve maximum efficiency.  If you want to solve a  
system in parallel, both Cactus and PETSc need to be built with MPI.
