The Frameworks group works primarily with the Cactus Framework (http://www.cactuscode.org), and works closely with various application communities including numerical relativity, petroleum engineering, CFD, and coastal modeling. The group pursues research in topics such as high-end computing, performance models and optimization, automated code generation and Grid computing.

Required Qualifications: (IT Analyst 2 or 3) Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant scientific field; one year of software programming experience for IT Analyst 2 or two years of software experience for IT Analyst 3; strong programming skills in C; either a background in software engineering with advanced software development skills OR computational scientists with experience in high performance or distributed computing; self-motivated individuals with excellent communication and professional skills who are interested in working in a dynamic, team based environment.

Additional Qualifications Desired: familiar with the use of software development tools such as make and CVS; experience in Perl, shell scripting, Fortran, or parallel programming using MPI will be an advantage.
