Cactus was born at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (also known as the Albert Einstein Institute), in Potsdam, Germany.
Cactus was in heavy use and development by the Numerical Relativity group at the AEI, for a variety of projects, including the modelling of black hole and neutron star collision and stellar collapse.
